Every 23rd of September, the Kingdom celebrates the countries' birth as it is the day King Abdulaziz announced the country as being a strong Kingdom, (September 23, 1932 to be exact).
As a little review of its history, Saudi Arabia officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
(KSA) is the largest Arab state in Western Asia constituting the bulk of the
Arabian Peninsula and the second-largest in the Arab world after Algeria popularly located in the Middle East.
Dr. Ateeq Mohammad Al-Qarni (center) with his team had their hospital rounds after the opening ceremony. |
The word "Saudi" is derived from the element
as-Suʻūdīyah in the Arabic name of the country, which is a type of adjective
known as a nisba, formed from the dynastic name of the Saudi royal family, the
Al Saud (آل سعود).
As an addition for a little bit of history, the hospital's name- Al Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal, was inspired from Abdul Rahman bin Faisal. He was the last ruler of the Second Saudi State. He was the youngest son of Faisal bin Turki (was the second ruler of the Second Saudi State and seventh Head of the House of Saud) and the father of King Abdulaziz- who founded the modern Saudi Arabia. In later years, as his son built what was to become Saudi Arabia, Abdul Rahman was styled Imam and considered the spiritual leader of the country, while King Abdulaziz held secular and military authority. Abdul Rahman bin Faisal died in Riyadh in 1928.
The national flag is green with the white Arabic testimony of our Islamic faith — "There is no God worthy of worship except the Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is His messenger." The green of the flag represents Islam and the sword stands for the House of Saud, the founding dynasty of the country, or the military strength and prowess of Saudi Arabia.
